AmTRAN Video Recalls 42-Inch JVC Flat Panel Televisions – Risk of Tip Over

About 27,000 JVC 42 inch flat panel televisions have been recalled.  The neck of the stand can crack and cause the television to tip over unexpectedly, posing a risk of impact injury to the consumer.

JVC has received 16 reports of cracked television stand necks, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers using the stand assembly (neck and base) should immediately detach it, place the television in a stable location and contact AmTRAN Video for a replacement stand neck. Consumers with wall-mounted televisions should request the replacement neck in case the stand assembly is needed for future use.

This recall involves JVC 42-inch, Emerald Series Full HD 1080P LED flat panel televisions, model EM42FTR and serial number beginning with “T”.   READ MORE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 18, 2014 – Brooklyn, NY – Acme Smoked Fish Corporation of Brooklyn, NY is voluntarily recalling 564 pounds of its Imported (Product of Denmark) Acme 4oz. (113g) vacuum packs of Smoked Nova Salmon with lot code of L.05122014 because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

This product was distributed to Giant Food of Landover, MD, which operates supermarkets in Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

The contamination was noted after routine testing by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in one 4 ounce package of “Imported (Product of Denmark) Acme 4oz. Smoked Nova Salmon” with product lot code L.05122014.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased 4oz. Smoked Salmon (Acme – Product of Denmark) with lot code L.05122014 are urged to return product to store or discard product. 11.20.2014 CPSC: With the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Graco is voluntarily recalling 11 models of strollers due to finger amputation hazard. There were reports of finger injuries, including the amputation of fingertips. The folding hinge on the sides of the stroller can pinch a child’s finger, posing a laceration or amputation hazard. Nearly 5 million strollers are affected in the U.S. and about 200,000 in Canada. The strollers were sold at Target, Toys R Us, Walmart and other retail stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com and other online retailers from August 2000 through November 2014.
